I don’t go on leisurely walks as often as I should. ZAMA Creative gives me the chance to channel my efforts and establish a rhythm for my artisanal pursuits. Sometimes, it’s about capturing images worth preserving—the quiet beauty of the everyday. People walking to and fro after a spring or summer shower. The last light of day retreating over the horizon, making for a dramatic prelude to the evening. It’s less about the photos themselves and more about the memories they hold.

On a recent photo walk through my neighborhood, I ended the outing by capturing a series of images of what appeared to be a mother and her child heading home after school. The lockstep waddle they shared melted my heart. Carrying a compact camera like the Fujifilm X10 allowed me to focus on the candidness of the moment without the intrusion of larger, more obtrusive gear. The simplicity of the tool gave me space to work unnoticed, free from the distractions of protruding lenses or flashing lights.

Above are a few select images from that day. I hope they inspire you to take your own photo walks and see what quiet moments you might capture.
